The Sheppard family have been butchers for over 50 years. In the early days, the family had retail shops throughout the Bristol area; however the company has rapidly grown since.
During the early 60's when the nation's eating habits were changing and more and more people were eating out, John Sheppard saw the opportunity of supplying caterers and larger manufacturers of food with specialty cuts of both fresh and frozen quality meats and meat products.
In 1965 John Sheppard opened three large retail shops (with large butcheries at the rear), designed to supply the retail market, caterers, hotels and restaurants, and large food manufacturers.
In 1967 the first satellite unit was set up; by the early 70's the business had grown, and to meet demand the present site was acquired in 2001, and a state of the art meat processing plant was opened.
Today the business is still very much a family concern with no less than six members of the family involved in the business.
The company supplies high quality meat and meat products to many well known Hotels and Restaurants, National Catering Authorities, Schools, Universities, Hospitals, Social Service Departments, Bakeries, and other large food manufacturers.
