Our Story So Far . . .
The Sheppard family have been in the Butchery trade for over 80 years. In the ‘early days’ the family operated high street Butchers shops throughout the Bristol area.
Since then the company has expanded from our humble beginings as shopkeepers to where we are today as one of the leading catering butchers in the UK.
Throughout this expansion we have been constantly mindful of our roots, and pride ourselves on maintaining the family feel and ethos to what we do for all of our customers and our employees.
In 1965 John Sheppard opened three large retail shops (with large butcheries at the rear), designed to supply the retail market, caterers, hotels and restaurants, and large food manufacturers.
In 1967 the first satellite unit was set up; by the early 70’s the business had grown, and to meet demand the present site was acquired in 2001, and a state of the art meat processing plant was opened.
Today the business is still very much a family concern with no less than six members of the family involved in the business.
